Autism Awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month. In late March, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new data from the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, reporting 1 in 36 (2.8%) 8-year-old children — 4% of boys and 1% of girls — have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), based on an analysis of data from 2020. CDC data shows autism rates skyrocketed from 1 in 150 in 2000 to today’s estimate of 1 in 36 children. Continuing to accept the narrative that autism is naturally occurring and something we must simply accept, will limit the necessary concern to determine the root cause. It is essential to investigate, educate and share the truth surrounding autism.
